Kwoorabup Nature School

Kwoorabup Nature School is a progressive, independent nature-based school located in Denmark, Western Australia. Formerly known as Spirit of Play Community School, Kwoorabup provides a holistic, child-led education integrating the Western Australian curriculum for students from Kindergarten to Year 6. The school embraces creativity, play, and environmental immersion as core aspects of learning, while deeply embedding local Noongar culture and community connections into everyday practices.

Weekly "Walkabout Days" allow students to spend a full day immersed in nature—exploring local ecosystems such as karri forests, the Denmark River, and Wilson Inlet under the guidance of specialty outdoor educators. Programs are carefully aligned with the six Noongar seasons, creating rich opportunities for cultural learning and ecological connection. With a strong emphasis on respectful relationships, mindfulness (through practices like Sit Spots), and experiential education, Kwoorabup offers students a truly grounded and meaningful start to life-long learning.
